What We Do

What We Do

Sweet Sisterhood wants to be the change needed to get survivors immediate access to what they need—not what others think they need.

✔️ A woman might come to us needing therapy, but maybe therapy isn’t the right fit—maybe she needs a group, a mentor, or an advocate.

✔️ Maybe she needs to sign up for college, access emergency funds, or find stable housing.

✔️ Maybe she’s looking for career opportunities or financial guidance but doesn’t know where to start.

We don’t assume all women need the same thing. That’s why Sweet Sisterhood focuses on real connections—not just handing out resources, but helping women find the right next step for them.

Mentorship starts with trust. Every woman deserves someone she can learn from; someone who truly understands, who offers guidance, healthy and educated feedback, and who challenges and validates her at the same time. Not everyone will have lived our experiences, but the right mentorship provides the support and knowledge needed to move forward with confidence.

It’s exciting to share with women the opportunity and invitation to visit THE SURVIVORS JOURNEY which helps women navigate healing and reclaim their power.

Created by Dr. Celia Williamson, named one of the top 30 most influential social workers alive, Dr. Celia Williamson has over 25 years of anti-trafficking experience. She is a professor of social work at the University of Toledo where she has received 13 years of federal funding to study sex trafficking and prostitution and hosts the oldest and largest international academic human trafficking conference in the world.

How We Are Already Making an Impact

Change doesn’t happen by waiting—it happens by showing up, connecting, and meeting people where they are. Sweet Sisterhood is already doing the work.

✔️ Annual Shoe Giveaway Initiative – More than just shoes, this event creates direct connections with women and children in need. It is an opportunity to provide essential items while also introducing families to the resources, support, and community Sweet Sisterhood offers. In the last year, over 150 women and children received shoes and support through this initiative—ensuring families had one less burden to carry.

✔️ Speaking at the Anti-Trafficking Coalition – Education is key to breaking cycles of trauma and exploitation. Sweet Sisterhood has presented at the Anti-Trafficking Coalition to educate professionals and survivors about emotional intelligence, trauma recovery, and long-term healing. This work not only brings awareness but also empowers survivors with the tools to reclaim their power.

✔️ Volunteering & Partnerships – Change is not created alone. Sweet Sisterhood actively collaborates with community organizations, advocates, and service providers to build a network of opportunities for women. From professional connections to resource-sharing, these partnerships open doors and create pathways to stability and independence.

Sweet Sisterhood is proud to be an active member of the Northwest Ohio Human Trafficking Coalition REACH. This opportunity allows us to stay connected with others doing critical work and ensures that survivor voices continue to be part of the conversation.

Please keep a lookout—Sweet Sisterhood will be part of the 2025 Human Trafficking Conference. We are thankful for the opportunity to grow our impact and be part of something greater.

We are not waiting to create change—we are doing it right now.

Our Vision for Growth

Sweet Sisterhood is not just about helping women in the moment, it’s about building pathways for long-term success and self-sufficiency.

✔️ Future Goals Include: Expanding financial education programs, trauma recovery initiatives, and leadership training so that women are not only surviving but building independent, thriving futures.

✔️ The Big Vision: A place where women can find safe housing, economic independence, and a true path forward. This means creating spaces where healing and opportunity exist together: where women are empowered to rebuild, lead, and thrive.

This isn’t just about helping women survive. It’s about equipping them to thrive.

It’s okay to live part of your life with hope. We are more powerful than we think, but that power means nothing if we don’t see it in ourselves first.
